Tire Rotation Prevents Uneven Tread Wear

Category: | |

Tire rotation is necessary for your car not just only to maximize your tire life but also to prevent uneven tread wear and it’s a must to include it in your car periodic maintenance. Usually tires should be rotated every 10,000 km (6000 miles) for Two Wheel Drive and every 5,000 km (3,000 miles) for Four Wheel Drive.

Steps on how to conduct tire rotation

Step 1. Rotate tires on each side from front to back as shown in the figure, follow the maintenance schedule. Do not include the spare tire when rotating the tires.

Step 2. When installing the wheels, tighten the wheel nut diagonally by dividing the work to three times in order to prevent the wheels from developing any distortion.

Step 3. Adjust the tire pressure as per your car manufacturer specifications; check your vehicle owner’s manual for the correct tire pressure. Usually a tire pressure sticker is adhered on the driver side door of the vehicle indicating tire inflation pressure of your car.

Step 4. After the tire rotation, retighten the wheel nut after your car has been driven for 1,000 km (600 miles) and also after a wheel and tire have been installed such as after repairing a flat tire.
